More than 1,000 wāhine are diagnosed with gynaecological cancer in Aotearoa New Zealand every year. Early detection and diagnosis is vital to improve treatment outcomes. By raising awareness and talking about some of the symptoms we are hoping to improve women’s understanding of these conditions.

There are 5 gynaecological cancers:

  • Ovarian

  • Uterine

  • Cervical

  • Vaginal

  • Vulval

Below is a helpful diagram from Johns Hopkins Medicine which offers some practical advice with regard to susceptibility and symptoms to watch out for. If you have any questions or concerns we encourage you to get in touch with your GP or pelvic health specialist.
